My last senior session!

May 17, 2009

I started my assistant job at a local senior studio last week, so I’m unavailable for 2010 bookings! I know, you’re very sad now. But cheer up! I can still take your family/maternity/children’s/newborn portraits! Or if your 2009 senior wants some updated photos, I can help with that, too!

However, I had sooooo much fun with my final 2010 senior! Ashley is so beautiful inside and out, and the results were outstanding! Here’s a few previews:

When One Door Closes, Another Opens

April 24, 2009

I had the privilege of shooting a session for my friend Shauwna’s graduation announcements yesterday! We had a lot of fun and she looks amazing! Check it out!
Oh, and don’t forget- 2010 senior sessions can only be booked until May 15th!

Ensuring Customer Satisfaction

April 15, 2009

As a photographer, I face a unique challenge: providing images of a person that not only present him or her in a way that they find flattering, but also in a style that they appreciate and prefer. While all people are beautiful in their different ways, some have a hard time appreciating their looks- so it can be difficult for them to truly enjoy a photo session and prints.

With every scheduled session, I host a complimentary consultation to discuss every aspect of the upcoming photoshoot with my client. If you are local, we can meet at Starbucks to view some examples of my work together. And if you are hours away, like my upcoming senior Ashley, we can schedule a phone consultation.

When we meet, I want you to do most of the talking. Now, don’t be scared- what I mean to say is that I want you to express your desires and concerns about your session. I will answer any questions you have, and talk a bit about important details, but discovering your personality and interests is the main purpose of the consultation.

We’ll talk about where you’re going to hang your photos; is this session for a new family portrait? baby announcements? just because?
I’ll ask you about anything interesting that you might like to incorporate: special hobbies, sports, your child’s favorite toy.
I’ll also get your favorite colors and musicians- to personalize any slideshows and other items.

Clothing! This is my favorite part. We nail down exactly what styles of outfits you’re going to bring, and I remind you about the important details: nails, hair, and jewelry!

And we definitely talk location! I can show you sample work from various places in the Mid-South. We’ll discuss the pros and cons of each and decide which will work best for our project.

Lastly, I’ll let you know about the many options Picturesque Memphis offers in our boutique catalog: calendars, purses, brag books, invitations, etc. Everything is offered at an affordable price, and I don’t try to pressure you into any upgrades!

My biggest goal is to satisfy your request for affordable, quality portraits that capture your true personality. Contact me today to book your session – and I look forward to our consultation!

2010 Seniors!

April 13, 2009

Due to a photography position elsewhere (don’t worry, the following sad statement only applies to seniors – I will continue my business!), I will not be able to shoot senior sessions past May 15th. I invite you to visit my portfolio and consider getting quality portraits that truly capture your personality – without breaking the bank.

Personal, Not Posed.

March 2, 2009

Nice motto, right?

Well, it’s not just for show.

My desire with this business is to provide quality imagery that captures the essence of who YOU really are. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Most photography businesses say something to this effect.

But what does it truly mean to capture YOU? And how do I create images that make your family say, “That’s SO your name here!”?

It means I take the time to discuss your photo session with you, BEFORE the night before. Whether it’s on the phone or at Starbucks (if you’re local), a preliminary meeting allows you to communicate your desires and concerns regarding your pictures. I want you to be happy with my work! This also gives me an opportunity to nail down all the important details – location, attire, my special requests (i.e. I may ask, for example, when working with infants, for you to bring favorite toys to grab your little one’s attention). I don’t claim to have all the answers, and you know your kids (or yourself) better than I ever could! Working together is always the best plan!

However, it also means that if you’re looking for someone to pose you by a pretty backdrop and snap photos of you wearing a plastic smile, you should try a different photographer. I’ll ask you for different facial expressions, positions, attitudes. I may even grab a candid shot when you’re not looking! In the end, it’s up to you to decide which photos to purchase, but I desire to present you with varying aspects of your personality and many different poses.

I truly care about my clients, and I believe that is the most important part.
